How to use a Pregnancy

I had the pleasure of car shopping with Ricky and Gina. I say that tongue in cheek. (I think I am the only one that still calls him Ricky), but anyway car shopping was as grueling as I remembered it to be.

I would like to think I was invited because of my great negotiation skills, but I think it was to keep Gina company.

I guess family outings have changed a bit. They use to be relaxed restaurant dinners, time at the beach or arcade..you get it..easy peasy. Now there are priorities. Enjoy the times when your kids are kids. They turn into adults quickly.

Shopping for a car is equal in likes to me as having a tooth pulled without novocaine.

We were there over 4 1/2 hours. Ughh. There was much eye rolling, pacing, popcorn eating, sitting, more eating, more sitting than Gina and I cared to do. I did find Rick has great negotiating skills, but even so there was much waiting and waiting and waiting. Ughh, again.

Even after the deal was “sealed” it took another 45 minutes to get the car detailed, finance reviewed and insurance in place.

I asked Gina if she felt hungry, if the answer was yes or no, it would’ve been yes in my book and I surmise Gina’s too.

I set out to find the manager and salesperson who were hanging at a desk. I explained my pregnant DIL was very hungry and they jumped to attention. Both were former military for which we thanked for their service. They offered to buy us food, but we declined. Nice offer but who knows how long a delivery from McDonalds would be. Hehe

Finally, at finance …papers signed, car detailed they were off in their new car.

My son set out to drive out in a new car and he stuck to his guns no matter how much complaining Gina and I did. Thank god because I couldn’t sit through the harrowing escapades of repeating car shopping for a second or third time.

Good luck with the new car.

P.S. we did enjoy a relaxing dinner. Thank goodness some things remain unchanged.

Creative Ava!

Entering Contests

Ava is entering more contests and by the look on her face very proud of it. She loves creative projects.

The project was to create your own boat and the second on how to trap a leprechaun.

I have to say, they look pretty ingenious to me, but I may be partial.

I let you know if she takes home a prize.

Beach Days

Beach days seem so far off, so today Liv decided to play in her pink “sand” with some hidden seashells.

Pink sand and shells

Not a replacement for the real thing, but still lotsa fun!

Oh beach days…can you be right around the corner.

The Reveal

We are two happy grandparents. We will soon be welcoming a grandson to our already beautiful family of granddaughters.

Rick, my son and Gina have been so diligent in keeping their secret. They’ve known over a month and no matter how I’ve tried I could not even get the tiniest slip up or inkling as to the gender. Believe me, I tried. Ricky has dubbed them “masters of suspense.”

My husband I won the pool. We both picked baby boy as our guess. Gina’s brother also chose boy. Everyone else thought it would be a girl. Ava also chose a boy, but only after she found out it was a boy. Both girls weren’t too happy with the outcome, but I’m sure when their new cousin comes along he will be a delight to them (because he will be a new baby doll to take care of) Liv was disappointed she didn’t meet him today.

Much love was showered on Gina and Ricky. With best wishes for health and happiness for the beginning of their little family. We love you.

We also celebrated Gina’s birthday. Sorry, Gina…almost forgot that important part of the day. I guess that happens when a baby is coming. We all get used to sharing the limelight. Okay, maybe not all of us. It will always be your day.

Happy Birthday, Gina

Pretty Woman

Met this Pretty Woman at Becco’s before the show.

Enjoyed our time with GG, as Ava and Liv call her.

Btw, Pretty Woman was funny and very entertaining. The second half dragged slightly at one point but recovered nicely.

It was drizzling on our way back to our car, but you would never know by how bustling and lively the streets remained. So different than suburbia where a raindrop will keep you in.

Here’s to the city that never sleeps!

Tomorrow we will be celebrating Gina’s (my daughter in law) birthday and the gender reveal.Β  So excited.Β  Can’t wait

My beautiful DIL

I also can’t wait to see what Ava and Liv think of all this. Ava already predicted a girl weeks before any of us were told Gina was pregnant. She wanted to know when the girl in Gina’s tummy could come out and play. She was right on one count… Gina being pregnant. Let’s see if the second part is correct. If she got that both right, I’m having her pick my lottery numbers.

Will keep you posted. Do you think Ava is right?

Again, Happy Birthday Gina. It’s been a whirlwind year.

Wishes

May all your wishes come true, my sweet girl

Ava almost has a ritualistic approach to wish making. She definitely takes her time, blows on the coin and almost whispers to it…then the big toss. I wish I could help, but she never reveals her wish. Hope they come true!

Unicorn dreams and ice cream dinners. Love you to the moon and back and then to the beach.
