Chinese New Year

We celebrated the year of the pig at the BahaMar with a dragon/junkanoo parade followed by the most beautiful fireworks display I have ever seen.

The pig signifies fortune, luck and general prosperity. Nice things to behold at a casino resort.๐Ÿฝ

Does not even begin to portray the spectacular fireworks display.

Happy Chinese New Year!

๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒดWarm and Perfect

Although there has been record breaking highs in the northeast, the weather in the Bahamas is perfect. High 70’s – 80’s, breezy and hot, hot, hot in the sun. Seems perfect time of year to come here.

Enjoying lunch in Nassau on the bay. Things are a little slower here, but if you can get use to that, you are all in for a relaxing time, if not, angst. So just going with the flow and taking in the sights. Drinks help.

Tribute to my Mom

Today is my mother’s Birthday. She passed 15 years ago and it seems like yesterday. I still miss her dearly and I bet I always will.

My mother was older than most of my friends’ mothers, but I have to say she was the most forward moving and hip.

She had her own flair and sense of style. She was a beautiful woman who would open her home to all and that was what I loved the most about her. Our house was always bustling with family and friends.

She was not a demonstrative person yet I always felt loved. You could say she may have been a bit unconventional and independent for her time. Whatever that may mean to anyone. We all have our own perspective. She was very family oriented with family values at the forefront.

She also held nothing back and voiced her opinion. She gave me the thick skin I now live in. I thank you mom for teaching me a few things along the way.

I hope you’re dancing your heart out with dad and Dee. I know you and Dee are tripping to light fantastic. Miss you.

Baking Again

The girls will be sleeping over again. The cold weather is just not so good for their house. Hehe, I love it, but it will be remedied soon. Oh well.

This time they are making banana bread with their mom, Ashley.

  • They are so sweet…as sweet as the banana bread after Ash finally added sugar

It was heartwarming to watch them carrying on the tradition of cooking/baking and talking about the happenings of the day.ย  I stood by quietly and took it all in and took the pics too.

Ashley luckily tasted the batter prior to baking and realized it was blah and lacking the most important part…sugar.  I reminded her not to eat raw batter…once a mother always a mother.  Thank goodness she never listens to me or we would have had one lacking banana bread that would have been better for my Keto diet.
