How to use a Pregnancy

I had the pleasure of car shopping with Ricky and Gina. I say that tongue in cheek. (I think I am the only one that still calls him Ricky), but anyway car shopping was as grueling as I remembered it to be.

I would like to think I was invited because of my great negotiation skills, but I think it was to keep Gina company.

I guess family outings have changed a bit. They use to be relaxed restaurant dinners, time at the beach or arcade..you get it..easy peasy. Now there are priorities. Enjoy the times when your kids are kids. They turn into adults quickly.

Shopping for a car is equal in likes to me as having a tooth pulled without novocaine.

We were there over 4 1/2 hours. Ughh. There was much eye rolling, pacing, popcorn eating, sitting, more eating, more sitting than Gina and I cared to do. I did find Rick has great negotiating skills, but even so there was much waiting and waiting and waiting. Ughh, again.

Even after the deal was “sealed” it took another 45 minutes to get the car detailed, finance reviewed and insurance in place.

I asked Gina if she felt hungry, if the answer was yes or no, it would’ve been yes in my book and I surmise Gina’s too.

I set out to find the manager and salesperson who were hanging at a desk. I explained my pregnant DIL was very hungry and they jumped to attention. Both were former military for which we thanked for their service. They offered to buy us food, but we declined. Nice offer but who knows how long a delivery from McDonalds would be. Hehe

Finally, at finance …papers signed, car detailed they were off in their new car.

My son set out to drive out in a new car and he stuck to his guns no matter how much complaining Gina and I did. Thank god because I couldn’t sit through the harrowing escapades of repeating car shopping for a second or third time.

Good luck with the new car.

P.S. we did enjoy a relaxing dinner. Thank goodness some things remain unchanged.
