Remembering Dad

Happy Birthday

Today is St. Joseph’s Day. I ordinarily would not know this, but it was also my Father’s birthday.

His name was Mike, but most of his family called him Joe in honor of the Saint’s name. Some cousins called him Uncle Mike Joe.

My mother would make an Italian feast, sometimes, corned beef and cabbage in honor of St. Patricks Day (I know not exactly Italian, but pasta was always included) What better than to combine two saints day!

After dinner we celebrated with birthday cake and, of course, St. Giuseppe zeppoles, traditional pastries of the day. These pastries are filled with cannoli filling or creamed filling with a little green or red candied cherry on top. I like both dependent on my tastes that year.

My sister and I would decide who would pick up the zeppoles that year. Some years we would both bring them. It is a tradition that is very close to my heart, especially, since they have both passed

Here’s to the man that set the bar high. To the man I first loved. Who loved me unconditionally and wholeheartedly and who taught me to expect nothing less. Yes, dad I know that now. Maybe not so much in my teenage years.

Happy Birthday! Miss you all.

Leprechaun Shenanigans

The girls enjoyed leprechaun surprises today.

Ava was so excited to tell me the toilet water turned green after she flushed(I would have loved to see the expressions on their faces), she ate green bagels and the leprechaun trap was still empty. Hmm, wonder what is in store for their leprechaun.

Liv wanted to share the picture of these magical cupcakes. (No, Not that kind) When they stirred their white icing some of it magically turned into rainbow colors.

Some white, some magical rainbow

Ava’s teacher was also a leprechaun enabler. Ava told me the leprechaun’s pants were caught in her classroom window. Maybe Ava hasn’t driven her to thoughts of retirement yet.

I love that Ashley and Mike are so creative and stimulate these little imaginations.

πŸ’šWell, Erin go bragh! Happy St. Patrick’s Day and here’s to the luck of the Irish.πŸ’š

Fairies Rule πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ

There seems to be a celebration for every milestone nowadays and rightfully so, ( I think) especially if it works.

The “paci fairy” has come to Liv’s house and she is looking really happy about this.

Giving up her “pacis”

She’s looking very happy in this picture and I hope, crossed fingers and toes, that she remains that happy when I have to uphold the Fairy rule.

Could this explain the smiles?!

I guess Tucker can still find some laying around. Can you see the twinkle in his eye. The hunt is on.

The “PACI” wars are over

P.S. My daughter is so creative and thoughtful.

Pilates Reformer Class

My good friend Cindy and I took the pilates reformer intro which we both enjoyed. The stretch and exercises were amazing, but still not ready to commit.

The price isn’t in are budget right now since we both have memberships elsewhere; but when I feel ready to commit to three months I will definitely give it a tty.

Sorry, no pictures; I was busy at work or should I say play.

Give it a try! We tried Club Pilates

Happy Women’s DayπŸ’œ

I may have have missed the day, but I have not missed the message during this month in which we celebrate the life and times of powerful beings…women.

I try to teach my granddaughters to love and respect themselves first and to always stick by each other and hold each others hand through life. To be there for each other and never try to make themselves relevant by tearing down the other. I hope they will hold that respect in their hearts and souls for themselves, each other and all of their sisters in this world.

To all my girls, let your colors shine through and don’t ever let anyone ever clip your wings.

To my daughter, I love you and am so proud of the woman you have become and the wonderful mother you are and who I aspire to be.

And a message to my boys, β€œA man’s manhood is reflected in the way, he treats all the women in his life!”

G’s Arts and Crafts

I decided to do some chalk painting today. I tackled the dining room table, antique chest and some candle holders. Everything will soon be charcoal color.

Once I get started, I just can’t stop. Tucker is in hiding. He doesn’t want to be charcoal painted.

Drying stage

The sides have one coat and the top has two. They are both in the drying process, and need a glaze or top coat or both. The original chest is what you see on the right panel and is being repaired. Still have some work to do, but my vision will soon be realized.

Charcoal

I may or may not post the final product or I may go furniture shopping. I’m sure my husband will love them no matter how they turn out in order to avoid this.😏

Keto Bread

I’ve been on and off the Keto diet for a few weeks now. Of course, not being regimented, I gain a few, loose a few. I understand I’m suppose to be loosing alot. Maybe I should stick to it, but wrapping my head around eating all that fat? Sounds yummy, but not so healthy.

Anyway I decided to make some keto bread today and since Liv was here I recruited her helping hands.

So we begin

These are some of the ingredients I used. I used pinterest to find a keto friendly recipe that incorporated these products and then, of course, I improvised because I didn’t have coconut oil so I used olive oil. Did I just screw it up.

Let the games begin

We added, we sifted, we stirred, we added the wet ingredients, we stirred more, we baked and voila’…

Finished product

High Five Liv

The “bread” isn’t bad and actually quite welcomed on this diet. Anything resembling bread is good. The texture is like a zucchini bread. Not sure texture would be like if I had used melted coconut oil. No sweetness, tho.

Both my daughter and my husband ate a few slices even though they didn’t have to. 😘

Definitely not good ole crusty Italian bread.😏
